Living for myself,
And doing what I want to do;
Could never give me half the blessing
I gain by following You.

Desperate for a better life,
I was willing to accept your captivity;
But in joy I discovered You don’t build prisons,
You set your children free!

I was willing to sacrifice all,
For you are worth everything;
But when given an emptied life,
You fill it full of blessing.

I stand a man awed and amazed,
Your ways are as high as the sky above;
Oh God, my God, You have won my life,
It’s yours in freedom, it’s yours in love.
