We Can’t Communicate (So Don’t Judge)

We Can’t Communicate (So Don’t Judge)
James Dinsmore

You may have sight,
But you can’t see,
Beneath my skin
And into me.
All images become lies,
When you judge a man by human eyes.

You may have ears,
And that’s a start;
But you can only hear words,
And not one’s heart.
The words each man is saying
May only help mask the game he’s playing.

You can take both hands
And try to touch,
Another human being—
But you won’t feel very much.
For we’re all prisoners in a numb body,
Chained by the fear of being known by somebody.

For the Lord seeth not as a man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. Samuel 16:7b
